History plays a special role in the development of national identity and memory. This role of history is especially relevant in the transitive societies. The history is closely intertwined with the nationalism. The nationalist intellectuals aspire to provide the society with the historical narratives in the nationalist terms. This activity of the nationalists lead to various consequences. It contributes to diffusion of standards of a historical research and encourages the politicization of the historiography.
