Historical aspects of the development of musical and theater art in Russia the turn of the XIX-XX centuries

The article deals with the historical aspects of the development of musical and theatrical art at the turn of the 19th - 20th centuries, associated with the activities of the well-known in Russia during this period, a public musical figure, entrepreneur, director of operetta theaters Novikov Semyon Nikodimovich, who left a bright mark on the development of domestic musical and theatrical business, distribution and promotion of the operetta genre. The author analyzes the socially progressive work of Novikov in the musical and theatrical sphere in different regions of Russia. Particular attention is paid to the contribution of S.N. Novikov to the construction of theaters and the development of musical and theatrical life in the city of Yalta (Crimea), the analysis of his creative entrepreneurial and musical educational activities.
