Historical and social aspects of the charitable activities of St John of Kronstadt

One of the most famous pastors of the Church, which is an example of fulfillment of the commandments of the Lord through service to those in need, was and remains St John of Kronstadt. He created an overall structure of assistance needy, in which instead of a single alms he who is needy received accommodation, catering and constant feasible work to pay for them, as well as the possibility of spiritual, intellectual and aesthetic growth. In 1881 using these principles Fr. John of Kronstadt founded the House of Diligence and for the next 30 years more than one hundred such institutions in Russia were organized. This experience in charitable activities can become the basis for solving many problems of the modern society.
