Historical and social factors of interruption of the family reading tradition in 1970-1990

The article analyzes the tradition of family reading aloud in Soviet families in 1970-1990 basing upon the survey. The author describes the elements of the family reading tradition of that period. It is noted, that at the background of parents' stirring life and the early independence of children, the family reading became an individual activity rather than a collective one. It is concluded that the family reading tradition disappeared during the considered period.
