Historical science, which in many respects does not meet the demands of the natural sciences, foremost does not meet the criterion of objectivity. Most often objectivity is introduced into historical science artificially, while an assessment of judgment, which is almost inevitable in the study of history, although it destroys the “objectivity” of knowledge of the past, is based on a belief in the fundamentally ethical character of the universe. Christian faith, which is based also on the notion of the inevitability of an assessment of judgment (e.g., eschatological assessment in the case of the Dread Judgment) justifies the right of the Christian historian to impose an assessment and, consequently, to “subjectivity”.
