The article deals with the development of civil law of the countries of continental Europe. About the periods when the foundations of the future national civil law systems gradually formed within the newly formed national states. The beginning of this law-making process is rooted in the depths of early feudalism. And after all, the Ancient Roman Empire no longer exists, there is no practical application of its right, but interest in it never disappeared. Thanks to the improvement of its legal provisions, structures, progressive legal ideas and principles, it had a positive impact on the development of civil legal systems in many European countries.
