History of archaeology in Udmurtia in the 1920-s:research practice and people in power

The paper reviews the process of archaeological research development inUdmurtia in the 1920-s in the context of the Udmurt national statehood development.The author of the paper takes the view that social orientation of Udmurtia history was reflectedin its main topics that defined it primarily as ethnic history and directed archaeologicalresearch in the region to relevant issues. The paper describes research approaches andscientific and organizational projects implemented in the 1920-s - early 1930-s.
