The article deals with the history of falsification of a lawsuit against Orthodox believers of the Russian Far East, which gave a start to the mass repressions against the followers of all other religions. The author proves that the believers were one of the target groups for the "Great Purge" carried out by the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs in 1937-1938. The believers were regarded as "the main instigators of various anti-Soviet and subversive acts" and therefore were subject to extermination.
Believers, counterrevolutionary organization, anti-soviet activity, repressions, lawsuit, great purge
