Nowadays diagnostic X-ray methods are developing rapidly and it is important to learn the stages of this development at our University. The aim of the work was to characterize the stages of formation and development of X-ray methods of examinations Omsk State Agrarian University, clarifying the role of several teachers of clinical disciplines in this field of scientific research, in the implementation of applied research and the creation of educational and methodical works on radiology. The object of the study was the activity in the field of radiology carried out by the employees of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies of Omsk State Agrarian University since 1939. The research materials included monographs, articles, chronicles in documents and photographs, archival data. The research methods can be classified as historical-genetic and historical-biographical. It was established that the X-ray room was opened at the Omsk Veterinary Institute at the end of the 1930s (1935-1937), while a course on X-ray radiography was taught for the first time at the Department of Diagnostics in 1940, in 1954-1965 it was combined with a course on radiology. The study allows us to distinguish roughly 6 periods in the development of radiology at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies: 1 - formation; 2 -implementation of research results (in field military conditions); 3 - generalization of the accumulated knowledge on X-ray radiography; 4 - creation and introduction of new devices and methods of X-ray examinations; 5 -generalization of the accumulated knowledge; 6 - digital radiography. From 2005 to 2015, the work to summarize the accumulated material on radiology was carried out, while handbooks for students of the program track “Veterinary Medicine” were prepared for publication. The period of digital radiography started in 2017 and it is the shortest one. X-ray examinations have moved to a higher quality level, which defines a new direction in radiology - digital radiography.
