History as a living entity: Apollon A. Grigoriev and Nikolai N. Strakhov in search of organic conception of history

The article reveals the epistemological features of organic conception of history developed by Apollon A. Grigoriev and Nikolai N. Strakhov in the history of Russian thought. The authors pay special attention to the conditions that make possible the organic historical understanding as a holistic life action (“historical sense”), as a kind of hermeneutic act, in which the various meanings of historical knowledge come into dialogic interaction. The authors clarify meanings of organic conception of history common to Grigoriev and Strakhov, their relationship and continuity.
