The article deals with the question the systematic study of the Omsk state-owned surveying (geodetic) school history. That school has made a considerable contribution in the training of surveyors, taxing-masters and technicians-surveyors for Siberia and the one was also the first step in the development of special education, including the organization of the Omsk Institute of Surveying and Land Management faculty at the Siberian Academy of Agriculture. The authors consider the number of different sources on the attributes, staff members and the general rules of the Omsk state-owned surveying school in the context of such schools history in Russia.
