History of lacunology: its sources, ways of its formation and development

In the article the author conducts the theoretical analysis of search of lacunas trends and finds out three stages in formation of lacunology as a separate science: the first stage is characterized by the development of lacuna theory and by the ethnic and psycholinguistic bases of lacunas, the second stage is characterized by lacuna researches in comparative linguistics. The third stage of lacunology formation is considered as an integration of linguistic, ethno psycholinguistic, linguoculturological and philosophical trends of lacuna researches.
