The history of Russian oil industry in the industrial exhibitions of the second half of the XIX century

The article deals with the process of development of the national oil industry in the context of participation of Russian oil companies and entrepreneurs in the industrial exhibitions of the second half of the XIX century. The research materials demonstrate the growth of the Russian oil industry representation in the exhibition expositions, which led to the recognition of the country as the leading oil power. The research of collections and exhibits exposed at the exhibitions allows to trace emergence of new trends of petroleum usage and some changes in the technical equipment of enterprises. The author also identifies some scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs who have made great contribution to the development of the oil industry of Russia.
