History of development of the Islamic medicine in Central Asia

After the collapse of the USSR in 1991, various religious movements spread across Kyrgyzstan, among which Islam occupies a dominant position. With the spread of Islam, Islamic medicine is gaining popularity as one of the trends of alternative medicine, working alongside official medicine for fulfilling the purpose of health protection. This article investigates the history of the origin and development of Islamic medicine in Central Asia. Studying historical processes will help to better understand the foundations of the Islamic medical tradition, as well as to know how the spiritual practices of Islam were integrated into medicine and what role Islamic medicine can play in the current realities of modern Kyrgyzstan, as a system that uses an alternative approach to human health.
