History of semiotics of a religious ritual as an issue

The paper treats the problem of designing a theory of religious ritual semiotics as a research discourse amplifying the main problems which are to be solved to turn the discourse into a true scientific one. The paper also touches upon issues of specification of the basic categories and terms, combination of perspectives of semiotic description, synchrony and diachrony of ritual, features of verbal texts (sacred books) and mixed texts of a ritual as presenting discreet semiotic systems
