The history of the establishment and activities of the Kiev council of sworn attorneys (1916-1919)

Purpose: Consideration of the preconditions and circumstances in creation of Kiev Sworn Attorneys Council and its activities for a short period of existence from 1916 to 1919. Methodology: There were used historico-legal and formal-legal methods. Results: The creation history of Sworn Attorneys Council of Kiev Court Chamber District is considered in detail - from a moment of signing the royal permission until last days of this instance working as lawyer self-government in Kiev, when the city fell under Bolshevik rule. Considerable attention is paid to pre-election campaign that took place on eve of the elections to Council, and the procedure for electing its members. The results of Kiev Sworn Attorneys Council work are considered separately and turned out to be not very significant in view of brief existence of this Council. Novelty/originality/value: The article has a high scientific value as creation and operation of Kiev Judiciary District Sworn Attorneys Council (1916-1919) was studied for the first time in the Russian and Ukrainian legal literature.
