History, scientific schools and achievements in fruit and berry breeding (toward the seventy-fifth anniversary of the V.I. Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences)

The history of the scientific fruit and berry breeding in Russia is shown. The used trends and methods, the importance of the scientific schools in breeding are considered. The varieties of different crops were characterized on economically valuable determinants. The contribution of members of the Academy and leading selectionists to the development of methods of genetic and breeding investigations was presented. The achievements in breeding of main fruit and berry crops in different regions of Russia are given.
