The process of the mass youth military and sport competition «Ski-track of Antikaynen»” establishment is studied and analyzed. The event was widely practiced in Karelia during the 1968-1988s. The history and the essence of this event are described, the names of the champions are listed, the social meaning and subsequent effect on the life of the Soviet society are revealed. A deep feeling of patriotism, a desire for a healthy life style, and a sincere interest in the life of the heroes of the Civil and Great Patriotic wars among the Soviet youth of the 60s became the reason of its success. Ski trips to the places of war glory contributed to the growth of patriotic movement. They revealed the need for regular physical training, as well as the need for leadership skills’ development and creative abilities’ enhancement in young people.
