Historical methodological analysis of extremism and terrorism origin

The article describes prerequisites of terrorism: global audience, development of technology-based environment, exposure of democracy to the flow of radical ideologies, actual social problems, population support. The author reviews the features of extremism origin in the North Caucasus region, in particular, the emergence of Wahhabism against the background of increased activity of Islamic radicals, determined by the severe socio-economic and political crisis in Russia in the late XX - early XXI centuries.
