Historical and legal significance of the management of the Russian state by the north-western territories of North America

Introduction: the article is devoted to the implementation of the legal policy of the Russian state in the colonized Northwest Territories of North America. The geopolitical features of the northwestern territories of North America, as well as the reasons for their voluntary concession in favor of the United States, are noted. Materials and methods: The source base of the research was made up of normative legal acts regulating the colonization of the northwestern territories of North America, doctrinal developments on the theory of state and law in the field of state structure, organization of state power. When preparing the article, general scientific and private scientific research methods were used, including dialectical, anthropological, formal-legal, system-structural, comparative-legal methods. Results of the study: conclusions are formulated about the peculiarities of the implementation of Russia’s legal policy in the northwestern territories of North America, the reasons for the cession of these territories to the United States are indicated, the results of both positive and negative significance of the existence of the northwestern territories of North America for the Russian state are summed up. Findings and conclusions: Conclusions and conclusions: the author has formulated the main prerequisites for the voluntary refusal of the Russian state from the north-western territories of North America. The historical and legal significance of the existence of the north-western territories of North America is indicated.
