Historical and legal analysis of forced marriage

The article considers the history of formation of the criminal-legal institute of Russia in the part of legislative base of counteraction to compulsion to entering into marriage. As a result of the conducted research the author came to a conclusion that throughout practically all history of the Russian statehood there were facts of compulsion to marriage. Responsibility for this act has been provided for since the time of Yaroslav Mudryy and lasted until the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, with many changes and adjustments.The formulated conclusions are aimed at preparing recommendations for the improvement of Russian legislation.
