The article deals with the history of studies of Orlovskaya culture in the Lower Volga region. The authors cover various theories concerning the different aspects of Neolithic in the Lower Volga region and present the results of the study of Neolithic ceramics. Special attention is paid to the periodization and chronology of Orlovskaya culture.
