Historiography of the problem of hydropower construction in the Volga region

In this article the author analyzes research works devoted to the creation of the Volga hydropower cascade in 1930-1980s. E. Burdin describes three historiographic periods which reflect major tendencies in studying the problem. The author concludes that the Volga region hydropower construction was studied basically by representatives of technical, natural and economic sciences, as well as archeologists and local history specialists. Complex historical analysis of the problem was not undertaken.
