Historicism as an epistemological foundation of Russian philosophy and current problems of the methodology of humanities

The paper treats historicism as a basic methodological principle of the modern humanities. The authors state the idea that Russian philosophy not only developed under the strong influence of history, but was in its essence a philosophy of history. Due to this fact the principle of historicism is widely used in the humanities in Russia and modern researchers using this principle face the task of overcoming possible relativism, which is often identified with historicism.
