The proposed review is dedicated to the recent Second International Scientific and Practical Conference “Italian studies in the modern world”, which was held on February 27-28, 2020 at the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Moscow City Pedagogical University. The Conference, organized by the Chair of Romance Philology, saw a large participation of Russia’s and Italy’s leading linguistics in Italian studies, professors, assistants and researches of numerous renowned Universities and Language Schools, translators, specialists in Italian story, culture and literature. The Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Russian Federation Mr. Pasquale Terracciano and the director of the Italian Institute of Culture Mrs. Luigina Peddi honored the Conference with their presence and noticed that the traditional proximity of Russia and Italy in the humanitarian sphere contributes to the culture, science, and other achievements bidirectional promotion in order to strengthen the mutual understanding. The reports made concerned an extensive range of research fields: history and translation of the Italian literature, Italian history and culture in the aspect of the pragmatics, Italian language teaching and second-language didactics, Italian dialects and minority languages as well as language legislation. It is also worth mentioning the first edition of the Student`s section which offered the youngest researchers the possibility to try their public performance skills in a scientific context.
