Results and prospects of botanic collections information systems

Preservation and development of botanical collections of Belarus and Russia is an integral part of the effective utilization of genetic resources, research and conservation of biological diversity, improving the quality of life and food and biological security. In order to improve the status of mobilization, conservation and use of genetic resources of vascular plants in the botanical gardens of our country, it seems appropriate: provide information about the accessibility of existing collections, to create a system of assessment, inventory, monitoring and biosafety of plant genetic resources ex situ. To date, the authors have accumulated considerable experience in creating databases for the collection of botanical gardens. The paper summed up the results and the ways and prospects for development of the resources of this type.
