In 2017, a study was begun of the Mesolithic site (the main complex), the late Eneolithic and the late Bronze Age site of Kochkary I. The excavations took place at the area of 96 sq. m. The fairly representative material has been revealed. The collection of stone artifacts is of particular interest. The received materials have replenished a very limited base of sources on the Mesolithic period of regional history; they will be useful for resolving some issues related to the study of that period. Also, a small collection of chopped pottery of the late Bronze Age (Timber-grave culture) and fragments from two (or one?) Late Eneolithic pottery (Chekalino-type ceramics) was revealed. The osteological collection is mixed, definable bones belonging to the domesticated animals are most likely associated with the pottery of the late Bronze Age
