Towards the works of Polish-Mongolian archaeological expedition in Southern Mongolia in 1968

Бесплатный доступ

The article is devoted to the expedition of Polish archaeologist Janusz Kozlowski on the territory of Mongolia in 1968. His team was investigating the southern regions of Mongolia - Northern Gobi, the Valley of Lakes, and the piedmonts of Artz-Bogd. A series of new sites of the Stone Age were found. They belong to the different periods of the Paleolithic up to the Pleistocene - Holocene border. Based on the analysis of these materials J. Kozlowski suggested original periodization of the Stone Age of Southern Mongolia. This interpretation doesn't contradict with the previously presented periodization of Alexei P. Okladnikov.
