Glimpses of history of Kursk public library named after F.A. Semyonov (turn of the 20th century)

The article deals with establishment and development of the biggest public library in Kursk province in the turn of the 20 th century, which was the Kursk Public Library named after F.A. Semyonov. The author observes activities of the Semyonov’s Library Society, acquisition of the library collection, and finance sources. The activities of the library as a cultural centre of the town, membership readers and dynamics of books circulation and attendance are also reviewed.
