From the history of the Tunkin steppe duma - the local self-government of the Tunkinsk Buryats (1824-1889)

The article is devoted to the history of the activity of the Tunkin Steppe Duma - the local self-government of the Buryats, established under the Charter on the Management of Foreigners in 1822 by M.M. Speransky. The Steppe Duma successfully managed the Buryat Tunkin Department in 1824-1889, dealing with population registration, tax collection, economic development of the Tunkin Buryats, and social policy.
