In recent years, there has been an increase in interest in writing biographies of representatives of the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church, who are not known to a wide circle of those interested in the life of the Orthodox Church, but who have done a lot for the life of individual dioceses. One of these priests was the Omsk Archpriest Vasily Feofanovich Infantyev (1884-1930). In 2021, a well- known modern Omsk researcher, Doctor of Historical Sciences Alexei Vladimirovich Sushko, published a monograph dedicated to the life of this pastor. Professor Sushko was able to compare the testimonies of Infantyev's descendants at his disposal with the materials of federal archival depositories, local archives of Tatarstan, Bashkiria, Tomsk, and Omsk regions. In addition, the researcher analyzed in detail the investigative case of the hero of his work, having published an array of previously inaccessible documents. The key topics of the monograph were: the struggle against renovationism in Siberia in the 1920s, the life of the clergy of Western Siberia under anti-Bolshevik governments, repression against the clergy and laity in the 1920s-1930s. The positive and negative aspects of Alexei Sushko's research are described in the review.
