Changes in hematological indices of calves under the influence of stimulating drugs

The article presents the results of studies on the effect of complex stimulating drugs on the body of beef calves. The studies were conducted at the Vavilov University, Saratov, and the peasant farm Demidova E.N. and peasant farm Demidov A.V. The studies were conducted on 1.5-month-old Kazakh white-headed calves. Three groups of animals were formed for the study, with 10 animals in each group. The first group served as a control. The second group was administered Butofan® subcutaneously once a day for 5 days at a dose of 5 ml per animal. The third group was administered Letozal subcutaneously once a day for 5 days at a dose of 5 ml per animal. Hematological parameters were determined on a BC-2800 Vet hematological analyzer. It was established that the use of Butofan® and Letozal (5 ml subcutaneously for 5 days) led to significant changes in hematological parameters. In both experimental groups, a decrease in the level of leukocytes (by 29.6% and 24.4%), lymphocytes (by 19.1% and 23.4%), monocytes (by 10.0% and 12.5%) and granulocytes (by 20.2% and 28.9%) was observed compared to the control. At the same time, the number of erythrocytes remained without significant changes, and the hemoglobin content increased by 9.8% and 11.5%. A significant increase in the number of platelets (by 32.3% and 58.6%) and the level of thrombocrit (by 58.3%) was noted in both experimental groups. The indicators of erythrocyte indices (mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, corpuscular volume distribution width) did not reveal any significant differences between the groups, which indicates a targeted effect of the drugs primarily on the leukocyte link and the platelet system of the blood.
