Changing the nature of pharmaceutical production during the pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has become a serious test for the pharmaceutical industry, which began in 2020, as a result of which the demand for many types of medicines has grown many times, but domestic and local manufacturers for the most part were unable to satisfy it, and against the backdrop of a worsening epidemiological situation, imports were organic. In the context of such an unprecedented epidemiological threat, which the domestic healthcare and related pharmaceutical production has not previously encountered, the importance of increasing the flexibility and adaptability of the pharmaceutical industry in order to increase the level of drug supply in the country has increased significantly. The study assesses the dynamics of production and sales of pharmaceutical products in Russia during the pandemic, identifies the prevailing trends and their causes. It has been established that by 2021 the value of sales has reached 549.1 billion rubles. An assessment of the change in production volumes in comparable prices showed that the highest dynamics remained in 2019-2020, when the actual increase in the value of production was 27% and 21%, respectively, and in 2021 the growth rate decreased to 11%. Sales of medicines in Russia over the past 2 years increased by 11% and amounted to more than 1.5 trillion. rubles, in addition, there was an increase in the share of sales of medicines in the overall structure of retail turnover to 4.1%.
