Changing the Narrative of Regional Media in the Context of Modern Socio- Political Processes in Russian Society (using the Penza Region as an Example) The propaganda and agitation function of regional media plays a significant role in the state's influence on the population in order to form the necessary ideological settings in the latter. Being one of the media closest to the population, regional newspapers are traditionally used as a tool of propaganda influence. This article demonstrates the strengthening of this influence as the new Russian statehood strengthens after the coming to power of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin. The topic is becoming relevant in connection with the change in the place and role of mass media, including traditional ones, in the socio-political system. On the one hand, reader preferences have long been a marker of the population's attitude to state policy. On the other hand, the media themselves can strengthen their influence on their readers by broadcasting certain emotional and semantic concepts and gradually changing them.
