The purchasing power of the monetary income of the population is steadily decreasing: today, a fixed amount of money can buy fewer goods and services than yesterday. This is due to the fact that the growth rates of prices for goods and services are higher than the growth rates of household incomes. Ultimately, this forms an important socio-economic problem, the importance of solving which today, as before, does not lose its significance. In addition, the issue of reducing income differentiation between different social groups of the population remains relevant, which is important for reducing social tension in society. The study evaluates changes in the standard of living of the population based on the analysis of average per capita income and their purchasing power in Russia in the period 2019-2022, identifies trends that have developed under the influence of the crisis and their causes. It was found that, despite the preservation of stable dynamics to the growth of the average per capita income of the population in actual prices, the evaluation of the data at a comparable level revealed that in the last 2 years the size of the average per capita income of the population in the country is slightly more than 45 thousand rubles. and had no significant qualitative growth. Analysis of the purchasing power of monetary incomes of the population in terms of basic types of food has revealed that in most areas there is a decrease in the indicator, which indicates a higher rate of growth in food prices than the income of the population, which indicates a deterioration in living standards.
