The article analyzes the basic narrative principles and main creative methods used by a well-known Tver writer Michael Petrov for the description of the ethno-cultural peculiarities of different nations. The author comes to the conclusion that the description of foreign cultures is necessary for Petrov in his search for national and cultural identity of Russians.
