The images of «Goddess-mother» in Okunev art of Minusinsk hollow

Extension and exactness of original sources defined the urgency of holding the new research of the image type - the figure of woman full face with her knees bent and the legs parted. The history of researching this image was examined: different approaches to the cultural historical attribution, semantics and pragmatics. The object area include stone stele, rocks, ritual ceramics vessel. As a result of the semiotic analysis there was a system of figurative elements exposed, used in a structure of these images. In addition their belonging to Okunev culture was grounded. The images are divided into two stylistic and chronological groups: early Okunev and classical Okunev. The pregnancy indications and presence some zoomorphic elements allow to consider them as a mythological personage of Goddess-Mather type, which are known in different ethnic cultures. Compositions of Okunev Goddess were analysed. As a conclusion it was decided that the images of this personage were timed to the calendar ceremony, related with fertility subject.
