The article deals with approaches to the study of readers ' interest of users of municipal libraries. It is concluded that the library and information services using the methods of studying the reader's interest contributes not only to obtain multifaceted and reliable information about the users and the nature of their reading interests, but also to increase the prestige of the library among the population.
