The beginning and development of the study of old Russian furniture falls on the first half of the twentieth century. At this time, the publications of A. A. Bobrinsky (1910), G. K. Lukomsky (1923), D. D. Ivanov (1924), A. I. Batenin (1925), and N. N. Sobolev (1939) were published. These researches identified the phenomenon of cultural heritage as old Russian furniture. These artefacts were United under the name "folk furniture", combining ancient samples of peasant household items of the XIX century.
