For studies inbred rats with subcutaneously implanted liver cancer alveolar PC-1 were used. The aim of this study was to investigate the dynamics of the accumulation of liposomal form of borated chlorin e6 in the tumor and healthy tissue to determine the optimal time for the photodynamic therapy, and to evaluate the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy with the photosensitizer depending on its dose: in the group I the photosensitizer was administered at the dose of 2.5 mg/kg, in the group II the dose was 5.0 mg/kg. Laser radiation parameters delivered to both groups were similar (E energy density was 150 J/cm2, power density Ps - 0.25 W/cm2). Efficiency of the treatment was assessed by completeness of tumor regression, rate of tumor growth in animals with continued tumor growth. As a result of the study optimal time for photodynamic therapy following administration of the photosensitizer was found to be 2.5 hours, and the effective dose - 5 mg/kg. Experimental results suggest possibility to increase therapeutic efficiency of laser radiation with the use of a liposomal form of borone derivative of chlorine e6.
