Studying the role of non-invasive biomarkers in the diagnosis of coronary atherosclerosis in young age persons with familial hypercholesterolemia

Standard methods for determining LDL-C concentration take into account both LDL-C and Lp(a)-cholesterol, which can lead to an overdiagnosis of FH based solely on LDL-C. The Copenhagen General Population Study showed that hyperLp(a) may be responsible for a quarter of previously diagnosed cases of FH. Screening for early diagnosis of FCH and hyperLp(a), identification of index patients (probands, the first diagnosed patients in the family) allows you to start timely treatment and prevent the development of CVD and complications, both in the examined individuals and in their close relatives.
