The autoimmune component plays an important role in the problem of vascular pathology. Antibodies to the structural elements of the vascular wall were found. The effect of vascular tissue homologous antigen on the development of morphological changes in the vessels was experimentally revealed. The introduction of vascular antigen causes autoimmune inflammation that develops in the intima of the vascular wall. These changes are accompanied by damage to endothelial cells, impregnation of vessel walls with protein, and accumulation of neutral and acidic mucopolysaccharides.
