Apple tree on clonal stocks in Western Kazakhstan

At the current stage of horticulture, low-growth plantations on vegetatively propagated (clonal) stock are relevant. In the steppe zone of Western Kazakhstan, where only seed stocks are in the zoning, the first test of various forms of clonal rootstocks of apple trees as the main fruit crop is conducted. The rootstocks should be well compatible with regional and prospective varieties, they are technologically and resistant to the stress factors of the region. The article summarizes the results of studies of the Ural Agricultural Experimental Station and the peasant farm “Ulanov P.S.” in assessing and identifying the best forms of clonal rootstocks and optimal sort-and-brewing combinations adapted to the arid conditions of Western Kazakhstan.
