Japan: current experience of defeating deflation

The article analyzes efforts made by Japanese economic authorities in the last five years to defeat deflation, which they regard as one of the main obstacles to overcoming protracted economic stagnation. The author considers theoretical assumptions and sequential measures taken in Japan as part of a comprehensive anti-deflationary policy, as well as their visible effect with the view of resolving the tasks set by the government of this country.
