Linguistic world view as a part of ethnic identity

The author analyzes modern scientific approaches to studying the linguistic world view. The research examines the relationship between the formal language elements and the fundamental meanings of ethnic and cultural life. The paper traces the interpretation of this relationship, which is reflected in the mentality of society, in the linguistic world view of the ethnic group. On the one hand, national folklore is the embodiment of a certain level of national language development and demonstrates the aspects of its formal structure. On the other hand, national folklore is a wealth of meanings of people’s life. The author concludes that while studying folk art, the researchers can have an idea of the essential, fundamental aspects of the national mentality, the nature of the social and cultural life of the ethnic group, its values and guidelines.
