Linguistic means of representation of the national English character (Charles Dickens case study)

The article is dedicated to the problem of representation of the national English character in the context of Charles Dickens’ works. The author defines a national character, researches the approaches to the study of a national character and examines its interconnection with literary text. English character is defined as an essential part of the phenomenon of «Englishness». The author analyzes such basic concepts of of «Englishness», as «home», «gentleman» и «fair play».
