Linguistic means of persuasion in English media texts

The paper considers the peculiarities of using various linguistic means in order to increase the persuasiveness of a media text by English-speaking authors. The study is focused on such linguistic means as tropes, figures of speech, metadiscourse markers. Their functions in the text are also touched upon.
