During the passive spepping movements in the robotic device and under the non-invasive transcutaneous electical spinal cord stimulations (tESCS) the healthy volunteers performed additional voluntary stepping movements of the legs, co-directed with the passive movements. The average amplitude of the electromiographic activity and force of flexion have increased during additional voluntary movements and after their termination. The voluntary movements can serve as an additional training for increasing the muscle activity under mechanotherapy and tESCS.
