The article deals with the specification of the concept of socio-cultural competence and its components, as well as its role in teaching Chinese. The effectiveness of the formation of socio-cultural competence on the material of social advertising is determined and a set of recommendations for the formation of socio-cultural competence on the material of social advertising is given.
