This study assesses laparoscopic surgery’s efficiency and safety for strangulated anterior abdominal wall hernias, emphasizing its minimally invasive benefits, including reduced complications, shorter recovery, and improved diagnostics compared to open surgery, particularly in high-risk elderly patients. A retrospective analysis of 396 patients treated for strangulated hernias (2017-2022) across international surgical organizations, including the American college of surgons, the Russian society of surgeons, the society of Asian Academic surgeons and European Association of surgeons evaluated laparoscopic techniques, primarily TAPP, for effectiveness and safety. Criteria included operative time, blood loss, hospital stay, complications, and recurrence. Procedures utilized polypropylene mesh, CO₂ pneumoperitoneum, and advanced laparoscopic methods performed by experienced surgeons under general anesthesia. Based on the results of the study, the authors conclude that the laparoscopic method of surgical treatment of pinched hernias of the anterior abdominal wall demonstrates high efficiency and safety. It significantly reduces mortality, minimizes surgical trauma, decreases the need for analgesics, shortens hospital stays, and lowers recurrence rates and complication incidences, making it a superior treatment option.
